CompareLens AI Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 22, 2026 • Official Toolscase Disclosure

1. Single Purpose & Overview

Toolscase CompareLens AI is a browser extension designed with a single purpose: to enable online shoppers to extract, view, and compare product prices, specifications, ratings, and AI purchase intelligence side-by-side across e-commerce store tabs.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

CompareLens AI is built with privacy as a foundational principle. We explicitly do NOT collect, store, track, or share:

  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
  • Your web browsing history, search history, or tab activities on sites where you do not explicitly trigger a product scan.
  • Financial details, credit card numbers, or checkout payment credentials.
  • Account credentials or login tokens from e-commerce platforms (Amazon, Daraz, eBay, AliExpress, etc.).

3. On-Demand Data Extraction & Local Storage

When you click to scan a product page, CompareLens AI reads the visible product details (title, price, ratings, images, and technical specifications) from the active document frame.

All scanned products and saved comparison lists are saved exclusively in your local browser storage (chrome.storage.local). This data remains on your local device and is never uploaded, tracked, or indexed on external database servers.

4. AI Recommendation API Processing

When you request an AI comparison analysis, the extension sends the selected product spec text over a secure, encrypted HTTPS connection to the Toolscase AI API backend (https://api.toolscase.com).

This transmission contains strictly product specification text needed to generate the comparison report. The API processes the request in-memory to format recommendations and returns the result without logging user identifiers or storing document sessions.

5. Permission Justifications

CompareLens AI requests minimal browser permissions strictly needed for core functionality:

  • activeTab: Reads visible product information only when triggered by the user.
  • scripting: Injects content scripts to parse DOM product spec tables.
  • storage: Retains product shortlists locally in the user's browser.
  • sidePanel: Displays the comparison workspace alongside active tabs.
  • tabs: Opens original store listing links when clicked by the user.
  • <all_urls>: Enables extraction across various e-commerce domains visited by the user.
